Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a deeply personal experience — a space set aside entirely for you, where you can speak freely, explore what's been weighing on you, and begin to understand yourself more fully without fear of judgment or shame.

Whether you're navigating anxiety that won't let up, a depression that's dulled the color out of life, a difficult life transition, grief, self-esteem struggles, or something you can't quite put into words yet — this is a safe place to start.

Sessions are tailored entirely to you. Some weeks we'll go deep into emotional processing; other weeks we'll focus on practical tools and strategies you can use right away. Together we'll figure out what you need and move at a pace that feels right.

Great for: Anxiety • Depression • Trauma • Life transitions • Grief • Self-esteem • Stress • Burnout • Personal growth

Couples Counseling

Every relationship hits rough patches. Maybe you've been arguing more than talking. Maybe trust has been broken. Maybe you love each other but feel like you're living in parallel worlds, having the same fight over and over without ever really resolving it.

Couples counseling isn't just for relationships in crisis — it's for any two people who want to do better together. Together we'll work on communication patterns, understanding each other's needs and attachment styles, rebuilding after betrayal or distance, and creating the partnership you both actually want.

My approach with couples is warm, balanced, and non-blaming. I'm not here to take sides — I'm here to help both of you feel heard and to help you build something stronger.

Great for: Communication breakdown • Trust & infidelity • Intimacy • Conflict resolution • Pre-marital counseling • Major life changes as a couple

Adolescent Therapy

Teenagers face real, hard things — and they often don't have the outlet they need to process what they're going through. Anxiety at school, social struggles, family changes, grief, trauma, big overwhelming emotions that feel out of control — these are all things that therapy can help with.

I work with teens using compassionate approaches that meet them where they are. Sessions feel more like a real conversation with someone who actually listens without agenda — not a lecture, not a diagnosis, just genuine support.

The goal is always for your teen to feel safer, stronger, and more equipped to navigate their world.

Great for: School anxiety • Social struggles • Family changes • Grief • Emotional regulation • Trauma • Self-esteem • Identity

Trauma Counseling

Trauma is not a sign of weakness. It is what happens when something overwhelms the nervous system's ability to cope — and it can stay lodged in the body and mind long after the event itself has passed. Nightmares, flashbacks, hypervigilance, numbness, difficulty trusting, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others — these are not character flaws. They are symptoms of an unhealed wound.

Trauma counseling with Denice is grounded in safety, compassion, and a trauma-informed lens that honors what you've been through without forcing you to relive it more than necessary. You lead. You set the pace. My job is to create the conditions where healing can actually happen.

Denice is certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), one of the most effective and efficient trauma treatments available. Many clients experience substantial relief in far fewer sessions than traditional trauma therapy.

Great for: PTSD • Childhood trauma • Abuse • Accidents & medical trauma • Loss • Relationship trauma • Developmental trauma

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

If you've heard of EMDR or other trauma therapies, ART will feel familiar — but it's faster, highly structured, and the results tend to stick. Here's what it is, how it works, and why Denice uses it with so many of her clients.

What Is ART?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a relatively new, evidence-based form of therapy developed by Laney Rosenzweig in 2008. It uses rapid eye movements — similar to what your eyes do naturally during REM sleep — along with guided imagery to help your brain reprocess the way it has stored a painful experience.

Think of it this way: when something traumatic or deeply distressing happens, the brain sometimes stores that memory in a raw, unprocessed way. Instead of the memory sitting quietly in the past like a normal recollection, it stays "hot" — meaning every time it surfaces, it can trigger the same emotional intensity as if it's happening right now.

ART helps the brain go back into that memory and reprocess it — storing it properly in the past, where it belongs. The memory doesn't disappear. You'll still know what happened. You just stop being ambushed by it.

How a Session Works

1

You identify the issue

We briefly discuss what you'd like to work on — no need to go into extensive detail about the painful experience itself.

2

Your eyes follow Denice's hand

While holding the image or memory in mind, you follow smooth, back-and-forth eye movements. This is similar to what happens naturally during dreaming sleep.

3

The memory begins to shift

You'll notice the emotional intensity of the memory decreasing — often quite quickly. The image in your mind changes on its own as the brain reprocesses it.

4

You replace it with something better

Using guided imagery, we help the brain store a new, positive image in place of the painful one — reinforcing the healing that's already happened.

5

The results last

Unlike some treatments where relief fades, ART's effects tend to be long-term because the memory itself has been transformed — not just managed.

Why ART Produces Faster Results

Traditional talk therapy is valuable — but when it comes to trauma and deep emotional pain, talking about something repeatedly doesn't always change how the brain has stored it. ART works directly with the brain's memory-processing systems, which is why results often come so much faster.

⏱️

Results in 1–5 Sessions

Most clients experience significant, noticeable improvement in a handful of sessions — not months of weekly appointments.

🧠

Works at the Brain Level

ART doesn't just help you think differently about a painful memory — it changes how your brain has stored it. That's why results last.

Privacy Respected

You don't have to share every detail of your trauma. ART can work even when you prefer to keep the specifics private.

🌿

Gentle & Non-Retraumatizing

ART is specifically designed not to re-traumatize. You stay in control, and the process moves at a pace you're comfortable with.

Who Can ART Help?

ART is effective for PTSD, anxiety, depression, phobias, grief, relationship trauma, performance anxiety, and more. If you're carrying something that feels too heavy — even if it happened long ago — ART may be able to help you finally put it down.

Denice is a certified ART practitioner and has seen this approach create profound, lasting shifts in her clients' lives. If you're curious whether ART might be right for you, the best place to start is a conversation.
